Running Scene research

at the beginning of the video, we have a scene where the enigma of the girl is running. we leave the audience questioning f she is being chased, we wanted the audience to question her presence as they should do throughout the video as the story behind her is never fully explained.

When researching the running scenes, i came across this clip from Bad Blood. Throughout the clip, you can clearly see that the mail girl is frightened, the audience is left confused as to what she is running away from, this was the type of atmosphere the we wanted to create.

How the running is made to look mysterious...

In this shot the camera has framed the female using the lighting and a medium, long distance shot, you can make the assumption that they've created the mysterious effect by also using a smoke machine and lamps in order to create this feeling. in the clip she is running away from the light towards the camera. Only being able to see her isolated in this light as a dark figure makes it almost scary and keeps her identity as a mystery.

Again, she is running away from the light, but this time the light catches her silhouette creating this dark and doom effect. This time we are given only half of her body but she is not a complete black figure and the red hair is shown, giving the viewer a slight idea of what she looks like.

Here they've shown the fear in her face using a close up shot. she has been placed at the corner of the screen, maybe to show that she is vulnerable, in danger and alone. The light has been placed above her, coming from the corner (maybe to re-create moonlight), you can just about make out her expressions, but shadows on her face have still been created maybe to re-iterate the spookiness if the scene. Throughout this video, it is clear that the lighting is very controlled.
