Inside of album research

This was the inside to an R&B/Hip Hop album and this is the genre we are going for, it relates well to our theme with the alcohol as throughout our video this is his problem. The impact of the cork coming out and the fireworks bursting could signify his emotions being held tightly in and now coming to surface, within this album he is letting them go. This then brings the fans closer to him as they know they are getting a personal album that brings them closer to the artist. However, this would be hard to photograph and as time is of the essence we may not have the Photoshop ability to complete it. I also feel that by already featuring a bottle on the back and front we could implement something different in the inside.

This was the second inside of an album that i decided to look at, by Meek Mill and it was my personal favorite. He used black and gold which are the central colours to our CD cover and used items that relate to him. The watch signify's his wealth as it is an expensive one, covered in diamonds and we know that this is something a lot of rappers like to show off. With this in mind I realised that we have not done this much with our artist and could implement it in throughout the digipak. The handcuff then signifies his 'gangster' look which again many rappers go for. The gold on the black background contrasts well and makes the picture really effective. I like how he has implemented the parental advisory sign and his name and album title, as a constant reminder of who he is and what the album, constant branding. Although I would like to use this idea it could be hard to recreate,  however, there are some things
we could take forward as a group.

Finally, I looked at 2Chainz panflet and felt this had the most in common with our theme. The black background has been used again, as it has in the previous two but this time with a single candle in the middle of the page. I think this is really simple but effective as the candle could signify the one piece of hope he has left as our album would be called 'troubled.' The image of the girl inside the flame could then link this one light he has in his life being just that girl. This then links it back to love, which connects with our story. The theme of this could be his mind, the blackness showing his black out from alcohol and the light is all he can think about which then has the girl in the flame. 2Chainz has also used his name and album title in the corner of his panflet like Meek Mill, I think this is a nice touch as it adds to the blank space and is a constant reminder to the audience as to who he is, as he is not as established as people such as Kanye West it is a good idea to publish your name on every aspect of your merchandise in order to make people aware of you and establish yourself and will use this on my panflet. I have also noticed that the parental advisory sign has been used here again and it seems a common logo on rappers songs and albums as they are often quite explicit and as this is the genre we are going for could be something we should consider.
