Final back of our original CD Cover and our new idea

This was our original idea for the back of the CD cover, however, it came to our attention that we were unable to use the images as they were collected from the internet. When creating the back we thought that by completely changing the image by drawing over them and editing it so it did not look like the first one it would not count as plagorism, however, we soon became aware that we could not use this.
These were the photos used:

Photo shoot for our new CD case

For the new case we decided to use the same theme but with our own original photos, however, they did not photograph well and we could not use these pictures for the back of the CD as they were impossible to edit and make look professional.

Attempts at flower in the bottle

There was difficulty with the lighting and the focus of the bottle and flower, it proved not suitable for the back of our CD cover, although some of the images are of good quality they proved too difficult to edit into the way we needed it for the CD.

Second Attempt

This second attempt was done using a black background in order to change the lighting, surrounding it with black and placing a candle to the right hand side of the picture to create a single light. This was not completely successful as some of the images are over exposed or too dark. The bottle is really dark and as this is a vital part of the CD i do not believe these pictures will work on the CD.

The new photo's for our final CD case

As a last resort we used the rose and candle as the bottle wasn't photographing successfully and neither was the rose. Therefore we needed something which would show up and be completely surrounded in darkness as this was our main idea for each of our ancillary tasks.

We then photographed the rose and candle as the colours would stand out against the black background. by holding the candle at a set distance from the rose it illuminated it while leaving it surrounded in darkness so that it appears to be floating, this is so that it can be placed anywhere on a CD cover and wrote around as it is mostly empty space.

The candle is successful as it represents a glimmer of hope as some people light candles for those that have died, they also throw red roses on the coffin. By using two things that link to death it creates the right tone and message as our video which ensures it relates. The candles and roses could also be used to symbolise romance and love as roses link to valentines day and candles are lit for romantic lighting. This therefore links to the love between our models Connor and Lilly.

I feel this image will be more successful than the original idea as these photos are better quality and a better idea as they link to the video specifically the tone and mood and they photograph well in the necessary lighting.
