We will use a similar font to this one as it uses serifs which makes the writing match our dark moody tone for our music video and our ancillary tasks as we want every feature to portray the dark theme, keeping a consistency between our video and ancillary task. This will be reflected in the refined names of the singles we feature on the back. The names of the songs will fit with a font like this one as they will be quite serious, dark, depressing song names.
The Layout:
We will use a different layout for our 'executive producers' as it will revolve around an image unlike this example and we do not want the text to overlay the picture.
The bar code and the record label logos and information is rotated to fill the side of the album so that the songs are the main features and nothing distracts the audience from this. This is a different way to feature the bar code which is useful to know incase it doesn't fit nicely within our design.
The Colour scheme:
We have used a similar colour scheme as we will feature a lot of black due to the depressed state we are going for and a bright stand out colour for the font such as this one so that it is easy to read.

This font doesn't stand out and is hard to read, but, it fits the layout and design of the whole CD therefore it does work despite it being slightly hard to read.
We would use a different technique as our single titles are important as they link to the tone and message of our music video and the rest of our ancillary tasks.
Colour scheme:
The prominent black features are eye-catching and dark which is something that would suit our product. However we would chose a bolder colour than white for the text in order for it to stand out more.

Layout:
The singles are down one side of the CD as it makes the layout neat and leaves room for the other features. I would choose to have our song titles down one side of our album as it fills the space more successfully than the first album cover we looked at above.
The producers and record labels names are directly underneath each other in a good location, by being at the bottom because its not a central thing on the back it does not take too much attention away from the rest of the cover.

This album has dotted lines to show the folds for the sides of the cover which have text placed inside them such as the albums title, the CD's number, the artist and the record label. This is successful as it looks very professional and if the CD is set out to the side you can still see what the CD is.
Barcode:
I prefer the barcode up the right way as it is shown on the Rihanna album, however, the other technique is useful in case we run out of room and we can not place the barcode on the bottom of the CD cover.

This album has incorporated a feature showing the nicknames of the producers. This is a fun feature as it shows a real connection between the artist and the producers, we could use this on ours as our genre is R&B like this one therefore it fits with our audience.

Kendrick Lamar's album
The song that we have chosen is by Kendrick Lamar and this is the back of his album, it is very plain and simple and you can see the titles clearly, however, it will not be a challenge to make and will not allow us to display our creative skills and our ability to use Photoshop etc.
Font:
The font is small and simplistic, but is almost too small as it is the same sort of size as the producers names when it should actually stand out from that.
Record Labels logos:
By using the logos Kendrick has been able to use less text and this is successful as by using a small picture they can gain instant recognition without it taking up too much space.
The background and text choice:
By using a completely black background he could be signifying his blank, dark state of mind as the colour connotations through using black is always depressed and dark, which is the image we are trying to portray. The use of the white font allows the text to stand out on top of the background, by using binary opposites he has managed to create a simple but effective back cover as it appears emotive, suggesting seclusion.
